Beast is a band from Salinas/Santa Cruz, California who hate everything and worship nothing. Honestly, I had to listen to the three songs on their myspace to actually get a feel for this band. The first song, Caving In, was alright. I liked the melody to it. The second, They're Staying Away, opens up with a Ceremony rip off. I guess if you're going to rip off a band, that's a good band to rip off. People love Ceremony. The third song Where I'm Supposed To Go, bothered me a little. I can't put my finger on it, but I wasn't a fan.
All in all, I feel like this demo is a little contrived. I'm not convinced that these dudes are up to no good. I am convinced that they probably like the idea of all that is bad in the world though. I think they have potential to be good, they just have to find their niche. If you're into stuff that's got a darker sound, definitely check it out. http://www.myspace.com/beasthc
I never give bands that are plugged on B9 a chance. I don't know why that is, but I feel like a serious asshole sleeping on Frogball. This band fucking rules! I love Kid Dynamite, and I feel a definite KD influence here. The vocals kind of remind me of The Impossibles, and that too fucking rules. How can you hate on a band that has an album on their myspace designated for ANIMAL SHIRTS?!? When I was in 5th grade, I went to a Catholic school that allowed us to wear those shirts on Fridays only instead of our uniform shirts. Animal shirts will always hold a place in my heart. In short, if you're a fan of fun, summertime, and Dirty Work, support the fuck out of this band. (oh, and please play my coast.) http://www.myspace.com/frogballrock
I made a pitstop for 4 days in Auburn, New York once and decided I hated that town. It was cute and charming, but the people all looked mutated (or at least the ones that I saw).
Knuckle Dragger just changed my perspective on Auburn. Plus, they like Warzone, and that's fucking cool.
The vocal pattern on YourSELFS rules; It flows. It's different from anything I've heard in awhile and in a genre like hardcore, it's refreshing to hear something different. Lyrically, it's not the same old boring "you stabbed me in the back we're not friends" bullshit we're all so familiar with. The track "Knuckle Dragger" pretty much says it all. "simple hardcore, no vague opinions our message is plain and clear if you dont like it, we dont care". For fans of rock 'n roll influenced hardcore, the band Unitas, and people who don't like things to be over done. This band is promising, don't let the name fool you. http://www.myspace.com/knucklexdragger
I have absolutely no filter, so if you want an honest review of what your music sounds like and you have thick skin, definitely send it my way. okay, so maybe that's not a bad thing..you know, honesty and all....
i suck at blogging.
